L'areale di distribuzione si estende a sud e nord di Chanaral,le piante non sono di grosse dimensioni ma formano dei cuscini molto compatti.Le piante a sud di Chanaral hanno un colore piu' verde rispetto a quelle del nord.Vive a stretto contatto con la Copiapoa serpentisulcata e nell'areale si trovano forme intermedie.

La ssp. di cinerascens e' grandiflora, che ha una spinagione differente ed un fiore di grosse dimensioni.

In coltivazione non ha grossi problemi e cresce abbastanza velocemente.Come tutte le copiapoa non ama innaffiature nei periodi piu' caldi

The distribution area extends south and north of Chanaral, the plants are not large but they form very compact cushions. The plants south of Chanaral have a greener color than those of the north. Live in close contact with the Copiapoa serpentisulcata and in the areal there are intermediate forms.

The ssp. of cinerascens and 'grandiflora, which has a different spination and a large flower.

In cultivation it does not have big problems and it grows quite fast. Like all copspoke does not like watering in the hottest periods
