Questa copiapoa occupa uno degli areali piu' aridi del deserto di Atacama, si diffonde tra Botija, Blanco Encalada ed El Cobre. Fiorisce poco sia in habitat,dove si vedono sempre piu' spesso grossi cespi morti,,ancormeno in coltivazione dove in tutti questi anni non ho mai avuto occasione di vederne una fiorita.E' pertanto difficile reperire semi, che tra l'altro non  hanno percentuali di germinazione elevata In passato veniva diffusa col nome di Pilocopiapoa solaris (per  la peluria dello stelo floreale), ma la maggior parte delle piante commercializzate non erano solaris.

This copy occupies one of the most arid areas of the Atacama desert, spreads between Botija, Blanco Encalada and El Cobre. It blooms little both in habitats, where more and more thick dead tues are often seen, ancestral in cultivation where in all these years I have never had occasion to see a flowered one. It is therefore difficult to find seeds, which among other things do not have percentages of high germination In the past it was diffused with the name of Pilocopiapoa solaris (for the hair of the floral stem), but most of the plants marketed were not solaris.
